Get Involved with KDE Translation

Are you fluid in multiple languages? By contributing your translations of text in the KDE project, you will help KDE be a better part of the global market.

The KDE Translation team works beside the Documentation team.

Communicating with the team

There are many ways to get in touch with the team:
You can chat with the team in
#kde-devel on irc.freenode.net, or learn more about IRC.
The team discusses activities on the kde-devel mailing list, learn about mailing lists.

Documentation

KDE uses custom tools to internationalize the GUI and documentation of programs. You will need the latest KDE software to contribute to the translation effort. You will want to be familiar with the following procedures to get started:

  • Translation Howto
  • Localisation Guide
  • The KBabel project is the main tool for translating KDE products

Tasks

Now you have the code on your computer and understand the process. Here are some tasks for you:

  • Current teams - join a team to find what remains to be translated to your language
  • You can find out about the more initiatives in KDE translation at the KDE localization website
